Authors online!

I recently updated my website — with the help of a graphic designer friend! — and in the process I checked out a thousand author websites.

Below are a few of the high tech sites that are worth a visit:

• Dan Brown
• Nicholas Sparks
• Roald Dahl (pictured below)
• J. K. Rowling
• Dr. Suess

You will notice that these are all authors with loads of cash. And yes, I am aware that Dahl is deceased and Suess is a plethora of authors now. Surprisingly, Stephanie Meyer has a basic site, as well as Suzanne Collins. Although both have other official websites for their Twilight and Hunger Games series respectively.

There were a number of lesser known authors with good websites – too many to list here. The best websites that I found had a number of social networking features – like blogging and links to twitter, facebook, etc. I particularly like Meg Cabot — who is definitely not a lesser known author! — and her Diary.

Hence I am now using WordPress and am linking to social networking sites. I will however remember the mantra of J. K. Rowling, which has been repeated in almost all of her seven tweets on her official twitter: pen and paper is my priority — or keyboard and screen at least, because I am not a long hand writer.
