Review: Room

BLOG_Review Room

A masterpiece.

I do love adult or young adult narratives told from a child or child-like perspective (e.g. The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night).

I think this tops the list thanks to passages like:

I look down at Rug with her red and brown and black all zigging around each other. There’s the stain I spilled by mistake by getting born. “You cutted the cord and I was free,” I tell Ma. “Then I turned into a boy.”

“Actually, you were a boy already.”
