I got a book deal! YES! A BOOK DEAL!

I got a book deal! Woohoo!
It is with Strange Chemistry — a new global imprint dedicated to the best in modern young adult science fiction, fantasy and everything in between. YES, that was the official spiel from their website, which you can check out here.
Strange Chemistry is the offspring of award-winning science fiction and fantasy publisher Angry Robot.
They are launching in September with a range of books that I will be salivating to sink my teeth into. Yum!
This book deal marks the end of a long journey and the start of a new adventure and I owe a million-and-one thank-yous to my agent — the oh-so-wise and BRILLIANT Meredith Kaffel from DeFiore and Company. AND I owe a thousand-million thanks (sorry — I dropped maths in high school) to Strange Chemistry Editor Amanda Rutter for connecting with WHEN THE WORLD WAS FLAT (AND WE WERE IN LOVE).
In the official announcement by Strange Chemistry, Amanda said the following:
“As soon as I read the first page of When the World was Flat (and we were in love) I knew I had found something special. I cannot wait to share this wonderful love story with the world!”
You can also view the announcement on their website.
I am now looking forward to becoming a night owl with an editor in the UK, an agent in the US and little-ole-me in Australia!
And YES that is a photo of me (or at least of my hands!) signing the contract. GO ME!
Congrats, mate. Awesome news!
Thanks Andrez! Am pretty chuffed
Congratulations dearest Ingrid! I’ve watched and read your outpourings, scribbles, drafts, growing manuscripts with awe and pride since you were that kid under the art tables! And I hope, somewhere along the line, I’ve been a small help and inspiration. This is the beginning I know you’ll never look back, you have the talent and the determination. What a special year this is for you. Uncle Jim and Ron would be (and are I’m sure) very proud. love cousin, Di. xxx
You have been my biggest inspiration Di!
I remember standing wide-eyed as a young teenager at the launch for When the Singing Stops in Sydney and watching you on the panels at the Byron Bay Writer’s Festival and of course being part of the audience for This is Your Life!
And I do hope I am doing Uncle Jim and Ron proud (can you imagine if they were here to celebrate?). I can imagine Ron grinning from ear to ear! xoxo
Congratulations Ingrid. I am so thrilled for you. Can’t wait to get a copy. Way to go girl.
Thanks Tracey! It has been far too long (Government House Open Day, I think!)! I hope all is going well in your world. I ended up going to Smith O’Brien’s Cottage at Port Arthur. I need to get my hands on a copy of Nancy Bentley now! xo
