I have to confess that I am extremely envious of full-time writers. I work in a relatively demanding day job, which in peak periods has been known to keep me at my desk until the early hours of the morning (thankfully that is not every day!).  I do get a strong sense of satisfaction from my job. It pays the bills, but it also keeps my brain active and I am constantly learning new skills. A few days of solid writing and I tend to turn into a zombie with unwashed hair, who has forgotten that one does not go to the shops in ones pajamas.
