Around the World in 80 Days!

Well, I should be exhausted given that I have just been around the world in 80 days — even if it was only virtually.
My blog tour for When the World was Flat (and we were in love) has taken me to so many blogs based in so many countries, including Australia, the United States, Philippines, South Africa, Canada, the United Kingdom and Romania!
This is my last post (at least for the blog tour) and I thought I would take this opportunity to reflect on the past 80 days, including the blog tour and the release of my debut YA novel at the beginning of September.
When I decided to do a blog tour I thought I would touch base with a couple of my favorite bloggers. I admit that I was surprised by their warmth and overwhelming support, given they have a million other commitments and priorities (like getting through their TBR list and study or work). I had locked in a few when my publisher Strange Chemistry sent me a long list of bloggers who were also interested in being a part of the blog tour. Before I knew it, I had about forty stops and counting.
I suddenly realized my blog tour was going to be a lot longer than the standard blog tour, which was when I decided to call it the Around the World in 80 Days Blog Tour. This is both a play on my own novel and the famous novel by Jules Verne.
I am so pleased I decided to do a blog tour for a number of reasons, not least because I have met so many wonderful bloggers as a result. I put a lot of effort into each post or interview to ensure I was not taking their generosity for granted. My guest posts included: My Road to Publication on Me, My Shelf and I; Intertextuality on Dream within a Dream; Being an Uber Nerd on Snarky Bird, Uber Nerd; and Playing Around with Research on More than Just Magic.
In case you missed any others, the full schedule can be accessed here.
A few of the bloggers even emailed me to say how much they loved When the World was Flat (and we were in love). There is no better feedback than from reviewers and readers. I make a point of reading every review – even the not-so-glowing reviews. You never know what you might learn from your reviewers and readers.
I am a bit sad that my blog tour is wrapping up, although it will mean a few nights off (because I live in Australia I often have to stay up late due to the time difference). It will also mean I can get back to working on manuscripts instead of blog posts, which is exciting.
The blog tour has been a blast though and I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone who participated and everyone who read even one of the posts. I also want to thank those who have read or who are going to read When the World was Flat (and we were in love).
And now onto the exciting part. This is the last opportunity to win one of two prize packages as part of the Around the World in 80 Days Blog Tour. The competition will end on 21 October 2013. Details are below!
