YA author J. M. Wilde has joined the YApocalypse! Wilde is the author of the Eva Series, which is set in AUSTRALIA! Today Wilde answers few apocalypse-themed questions (and reveals she is very much on my team if there is a zombie apocalypse).

YApocalypse Fast Five (quick – we only have ten minutes of breathable air left!)

1. Why do you write YApocalypse novels?

Honestly? Because it’s hella fun. I like to torture my characters (and my readers!) by putting them through hell and seeing what they’re made of. I like writing stories about people who go through the worst thing possible and come out stronger because of it. There’s not much worse than the apocalypse.

2. Tell us how your book falls into the YApocalypse genre and why we should all run out and grab a copy NOW!

Three words: zombies in Australia. Can you imagine a zombie outbreak down under? People would be trapped on an apocalyptic island of the dead. But THE EVA SERIES isn’t just about zombies; it’s about friendship, strength, girl power and even has a dash of romance.

3. If you had a choice in what apocalypse you had to survive (or TRY to survive), what would it be (for me, zombies—the slow moving variety!)

Oooh awesome question! Slow moving zombies would be pretty kick ass. Plus I think I’d have a greater chance of survival than if it was an Alien Invasion Apocalypse or Sun Exploding Apocalypse.

4. What’s your favorite YApocalypse novel? The one you push onto all of your friends, hoping you will have someone to squee with over it.

Does WOOL count? If it does, then WOOL. Definitely WOOL. It’s more post-apocalyptic/dystopian, but I love it.

5.  The world is about to END, quick—name three things you would place in a time capsule for future civilizations?

I would only need two things:

  1. A piece of paper with sketches of a DeLorean, plutonium and the Flux Capacitor.
  2. A post-it note that says “You now know everything you need to make a time machine. Come back and save us.

As They Rise (The Eva Series Book 1)

Eva was just an everyday girl, working as a waitress, hanging out with her friends, and falling in love. But her world changed overnight when a powerful virus spread throughout the country, transforming it into a wasteland of deadly disease and crazed zombies. With Australia cut off from the rest of the world and rampant with terror and chaos, Eva and her friends must do whatever they can to survive.

Set in Australia, horror, friendship and true love collide to make this tale of survival stand out from the rest.

A kick-ass teenage girl, a nation swarming with zombies, and a sweet romance that grows amongst the ruins. You’ll find all that and more in this exciting and action-packed, post-apocalyptic young adult novella.

The Eva Series will make you smile, scream, cry and fist-pump the air as you go on a wild and dangerous ride with Eva and her friends. And it all starts here, as they rise.
